The political landscape of Togolese is experiencing an earthquake. For the first time, the Parliamentary Congress appointed a President of the Republic, and the choice fell on Jean-Lucien Savi de Tové, a central and radical figure of the opposition for many years.

A president of the republic for appeasement
The advent of the Fifth Republic was embodied in a spectacular political opening. The election of Mr. Savi de Tové, a child of the Maritime Region, is interpreted as a gesture of appeasement and an invitation to dialogue addressed by the political majority of the new President of the Council Faure Gnassingbé.
