Le Général Abdourahamane Tiani est devenu officiellement le président de la République du Niger ce mercredi 26 mars. L’homme a été nommé à la tête d’une transition de 5 ans, conformément aux conclusions des Assises nationales.
La cérémonie marquant l’application des décisions issues des Assises nationales, s’est tenue ce jour au Centre Mahatma Gandhi de Niamey. Le Général Tiani est maintenu au pouvoir et les partis politiques dissous.

Le Niger rejoint le Mali et le Burkina en officialisant sa phase de transition. Le tombeur de Mohamed Bazoum et qui dirige le pays de fait, depuis le 26 juillet 2023, est devenu officiellement président de la République, chef de l’Etat et chef suprême des armées. Il s’agit de la mise en application des Assises nationales de février 2025.
Le général Abdourahamane Tiani est donc président pour une période de 5 ans, durée de la transition. Cette « période de Refondation » est renouvelable en fonction de la situation sécuritaire ou de l’avancée des réformes institutionnelles. Est aussi actée, la dissolution des 150 partis politiques existants et l’élaboration d’une nouvelle Charte des partis limitant leur nombre à cinq maximum.
Cette charte est dotée d’une valeur constitutionnelle et abroge l’Ordonnance N°2023-02 du 28 juillet 2023. Elle est fondée et sur trois axes : les Valeurs fondamentales, les Missions des institutions et la Gouvernance.
